You're looking at 2.2 to 3.6 metres of real power and 89 per cent groundswell energy, which means the wave faces are sculpted and organised rather than choppy. This is a confident surfer's day, not a wave for improvers or learners. Water is warm at 26°C, and the best of the window runs until 10am before wind and tide shift.

By mid-afternoon the east wind has swung into the south-east and picked up to 20kph, turning the swell cross-shore and softening the shape. Waves will still look like 2.3 to 3.8 metres, but the face quality drops as the tide falls and the wind pushes the water around. The morning offer is the genuine one.

Tomorrow the swell hangs at a similar size, probably 1.9 to 4 metres through the day with the best shape in the morning before the wind pattern repeats itself. It's worth planning around if you've missed today, though the read is less certain once we're 24 hours out and wind behaviour can always surprise. Treat tomorrow as a second chance at similar conditions rather than a guarantee, and don't sleep past dawn if you decide to wait.
