Head to Carcavelos this morning. The swell is coming from the wrong angle to wrap in cleanly, but the NNW wind is offshore and glassy, the water is warm at 18°C, and waist-high peaks are the best on offer across the break today. The long-period groundswell dominates the chop, which means the faces will hold shape and push you toward the beach rather than crumble underfoot. It's fair–good because the swell angle is fighting the bank geometry, not because the wind or period have failed you. The tide is falling, which will tighten the banks as the morning runs on, so paddle out early if you want the sandbar shape to stay open.

Conditions collapse through the afternoon. The wind swings northwest and picks up to nearly 20 kph, chopping the faces apart, and the swell fades to ankle and thigh height. The session is effectively over by 1pm.

Tomorrow peaks at good with chest to stomach-high waves in the morning, a marked step up from today. The read is solid for the first half of the day, though the usual afternoon wind will close things down as it has done today.
