Start at Are Guling Left, though all the breaks in the bay read the same today and what separates them, shallower reef, shifting take-offs, occasional barrels, is not yet in the local numbers here. Shoulder to overhead, mostly solid, with that long-period groundswell wrapping in clean and a cross-shore east wind holding the faces up without ragging them. Water is warm at 26°C, and the tide is barely moving so you have time to work it. This suits confident, experienced surfers only: the size and the reef demand it.

From mid-morning the south-east wind swings onshore and picks up to 22 kilometres an hour, which will messy the faces and end the best of it by around 11am. Swell stays much the same, but wind is the story.

Tomorrow peaks at the same rating with slightly more size on offer, shoulder to overhead into the low threes, and the morning window looks best before the same south-east wind picks up again. The read is firm enough to plan on, though as always the ocean may shuffle the detail once you're out there.
