The early window at Mangsit is done. You needed to be out at first light when the offshore easterly was still holding at 11 kph and grooming waist-to-chest faces on a long-period groundswell arriving from exactly the right angle for this reef and sand peak. That long period, 16 seconds, means the faces hold shape and energy all the way to the break, which is why the swell wraps in so well despite what the models suggest.

By mid-afternoon the wind has swung cross-shore from the north-north-west and picked up to 11 kph, washing out what shape remained. The tide is barely moving, so the reef behaviour stays consistent, but the early-morning advantage is gone.

Tomorrow morning the swell holds at waist-to-chest height and the outlook improves to fair-good, with the best conditions stacked between first light and around 7am before the wind returns. Early starts at quieter breaks like this one have a habit of revealing more shape than the models predict, so the actual size may surprise.
