Go out now. A long-period 17-second swell is wrapping in from the south-west at overhead height, and the offshore wind this morning has cleaned the faces into glassy shape. This requires confident, experienced surfers; the wave is overhead and carries real power, and the rising tide means you're in a narrowing window before conditions turn cross-shore and choppy later. The 28-degree water and 95 per cent groundswell make the most of a rare peak morning.

By mid-afternoon the south-easterly will swing onshore and push the swell towards three to five metres in choppy shape. The best of this session runs until around noon; after that, the window closes.

Tomorrow peaks at the same five-out-of-five rating, probably overhead again and up to five and a half metres, best in the morning before the same south-easterly re-establishes itself. Whether it matches today's glass depends on how the overnight wind behaves, but the swell period and angle hold firm. This is again a wave for experienced surfers only.
