Right now Tonel is thigh to waist on a cross-shore northerly and not worth the trip. The NW swell is wrapping in at the right angle, but it's thin, barely half a metre of actual groundswell underneath wind chop, and the tide is barely moving, so shape is shifty and the rock stack won't form that A-frame wedge. Water is warm and air is pleasant, but the waves themselves lack punch and the 20 kph cross-shore wind is roughening what little face there is.

By mid-afternoon the wind will freshen to 26 kph from the NNW and the swell will have faded to knee to thigh. Conditions tighten rather than open up as the day goes on.

Tomorrow sits at the same poor-fair rating with no clear window worth timing around. Size ranges ankle to waist across the day with the northerly wind pattern holding, so expect similar shapelessness and choppy texture throughout. The ocean does owe Tonel a solid swell; this is not the day to collect.
